The DA Collection is a digital media art collection in Basel. Because there are currently only a few collections worldwide that focus solely on media art, we see the DA Collection as representing a flagship collection illustrating the diverse options presented by the ownership, archiving and conservation of digital art.
In its initial phase, the DA Collection comprises long-term loans from private collections andvloans from artists. The collection also includes the extensive work and production archives from [plug.in] - Forum for New Media Art (2000-2010) and the Xcult.org culture server (since 1995). The DA Collection fosters an international perspective and aims to establish a national archive for the historical activity of the Swiss media and web art scene.
The DA Store project is allied to the DA Collection. In the interests of digital art collectors and in cooperation with artists, purchasable work packages in which ownership, reproducibility and conservation issues are regulated will be put together for purchase at the DA Store. The income generated by the sale of works in the DA Store will go toward further DA Collection purchases.
